Twitter Is Getting On My Nerves
I’ve been feeling rather aggrieved or to put it less politely pissed off at the minute…
Why? How could I POSSIBLY be pissed of at twitter?
It’s not twitter thats getting on my nerves it’s the B.S people are trying to sell to
cash in on this whole twitter phase that people are going through.
Yes I understand that marketers see an opportunity and they try to cash in on it. What I dont get is marketers who see an opportunity and decide let’s cash in on this by selling crappy information or in this case….
Backgrounds!
I read an promotional email recently were some guy is saying how twitter backgrounds are key to improving your business.
Let me get this right its the background on my twitter account that will get me tons of followers and have people left right and center dying to hear what im about to say next.
Time to wake up and smell the coffee. It’s total bull crap.
Having a good twitter background is totally pointless unless your using the actual system properly. No im not going to say to find out how to use the system properly so you will make millions of dollars then click here.
(If you clicked the click here button you’ll know nothing happened. Thats because I just changed the color of it to look like a hyper link)
The reason why is that the point im trying to make is dont listen to everything your told.
You want to profit from twitter then follow 5 simple steps
1) Use it as a tool that will allow you to share your personality with your prospects
2) Dont send offers all the time or links in your tweets
3) Dont make useless tweets about what you had for breakfast but say stuff about what your doing online. An example: currently making a video/writing an email/blog post whatever
4) If you have a blog and you add a new article then tweet about it
5) Last but not least be smart. If you were your prospect what stuff would you like to know about. Say related to your niche. If its dog training then share pics of dogs that you have been looking at with a brief comment.
Basically share with your followers cool stuff that you have been looking at online. If you read it and like then why not share it.
We all land on various different articles, websites everyday, There not all crap so feel free to share.
That way your followers will begin to not only like you but me more likely to click on promo links you send in the future cause most of the time when you send them a link they like what your showing them.
I was intending on making this a short blog post but as always when I go on a rant I go on for a bit to long.
That been said Im going to love ya and leave ya…for today anyway
Later,
Chris

Haha, well said.
I think I know the promo you’re referring to.
Although a unique background is great and everything but its importance is kind of trivial.
Although if people are willing to pay it, why not provide it to them?
Gary.
Exactly Gary. People are willing to pay for a twitter background but it should be sold to them as that. There is no point in saying it will transform their fortunes online.
It’s misleading. I understand with every sales pitch you need to market correctly and that often means adding a twist in the copy and so forth. But a twitter background? No its a twitter background and thats all there is to it
It will make your profile look nicer, you can display you contact details and various business urls. And maybe a more close up detailed picture of yourself.
If your not using twitter properly then no background in the world will make a difference.
Found this interesting, I would like to see people post stuff that is of interest. Post links that are relevant though not frequently.
It is nice to get followers that are true followers of your post, though some just a plain waste of time.
Gary and Chris are right about backgrounds being trivial but fun. It isn’t necessary to gain followers. I think that links to content in twitter is much more important. I am able to read and study a great deal more IM and Niche content because of Twitter.
